Shiresoft started as a indivual collection of mostly Digital Equipement Corporation (DEC) PDP-11 and PDP-8 minicomputers. Most of the efforts have been in acquiring and restoring these minicomputers and making them available to others. Because the collection quickly outgrew my garage, some commercial space was rented and the collection was moved there.
The collection was in its present location less than a month before a call was received to rent some equipment for a movie (no kidding!). After the director came by to see what equipment he wanted to rent he made the decision to do the filming "on site" because of the large number of old computers. Thus Shiresoft, Inc was started!
